Lower Dennysville Schoolhouse, Relocated

Following the closure of the Dennysville schools in 1961, students began attending the Edmunds Consolidated School. The former schoolhouse in Lower Dennysville was moved from its location at the junction of the Shipyard Road up U.S. Route 1 to serve as a garage.
Rebecca W. Hobart writes in her history of Dennysville and Edmunds, "Since there was a schoolhouse just over the line in Pembroke, it seems probable that the Tide Mill District School was built just after the separation of the two towns to accommodate the pupils who had been attending school which was then located in what had become another town in 1832."
