Isaac Hobart House Site at Little Falls
Isaac Hobart first built a small house at Little Falls on the point near the mills, in 1793, living in it with his wife, Joanna Hersey, whom he married in 1794, and their six children, until 1806, when he had a larger dwelling built about four rods above their first home. The original house was then taken down and sold to an Eastport man by the name of Hamilton. Isaac Hobart built his second home on the hill above Hobart Stream in 1806. In 1808 on the death of his father, Col. Aaron Hobart, Isaac purchased the wildlands belonging to the heirs and became owner of three-fourths of the township. Isaac and Joanna's son Benjamin resided in the house after his parents moved to Eastport in 1826. In 1926 Benjamin's great grandson, Richard Hobart Sr., had the old house torn down and replaced with a new one, using many of the materials from the former dwelling.
