Following the abrupt closure of the mills in 1930, the structure was purchased by the Higgins Brothers and moved across the road to serve as a Gulf Refining Company distributorship. Raymond D. Higgins acquired the property on the death of his father, M. Dyer Higgins, and converted to use as a poultry barn. in 1972 a group of interested local citizens purchased the structure for use an Edmunds-Dennysville-Marion Youth Center. The building was renovated and prepared for use not only as a youth center, but for community meetings, suppers, dances and other activities, including Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, 4-H and a senior citizen's Leisure Club, before passing into private hands.
