Congregational Church building, Dennysville, Maine from the John Sheahan Collection c. 1880's. The louvers had yet to be added to the base of the steeple. The carriage shed is shown at the right of the church building.
A Congregational Church was organized in 1805, under the direction of missionary Jotham Sewall, who had been visiting the community each fall since 1801. The first ten members, Dennysville, Pembroke and Robbinston, worshipped the schoolhouse. By 1833 the Church built a commodious meetinghouse on the brow of the hill where the school, which had been relocated 100 feet to the south, had previously stood. In 2005 the Church celebrated its 200th anniversary by building a Parish Hall connected to the church building.
