Carl and Eliza Lyons House, Cross Road, Dennysville, Maine
Carl Lyons' father operated a cooper's shop on this property, raising Milton, Lewis and Aleta. Both boys survived the Second World War, Lewis as a marine in the Pacific, while Milton was wounded in Italy, but both returned to take up their lives in Dennysville. A visiting curator from the Smithsonian Institution purchased the cooper's shop and brought it back to Washington DC, along with a horse drawn traction truck, utilizing the endless track technology, for retrieving logs from the woods in muddy seasons. The Lyons family were at one time members of the holiness church, which was located nearby and marked with a cross on the U.S.G.S. map of 1908.
