Meddybemps Village, from the Colby Atlas of Washington County, 1881; In the late eighteenth century, the Lincolns built a dam at the head of the Dennys River to controlling the flow of water from Meddybemps Lake to the mills in Dennysville. The dam was in use throughout the nineteenth century, and though the mills are gone, exists to this day.
