Dugald C. McLauchlan Grave, Dennysville, Maine
Dugald C. McLauchlin, the village shoemaker, was born in Scotland, and established his shop on the Dennys River next to Gardner's store. He had come to Dennysville about 1824, and in 1825 married Lydia Wilder, daughter of Zenas and Hannah (Clark) Wilder. They built a house on King Street where they raised eleven children. His son George, who continued his father's business. married Elizabeth M. Hobart, daughter of Isaac Jr. and Abigail (Jones) Hobart. Of their three children, only their son, George H. McLaughlin survived. In 1890 he married Abbie Stoddard and continued to reside in the family homestead where their four children were born, operating the shoe store until they moved to Machias around 1900.
