Nat Smith With his Horse and Wagon.
Photograph
Nat Smith with his horse and wagon, was a Rural Mail carrier for many years around the turn of the twentieth century. He lived near the Hobart Stream in Edmunds, in house originally built by Isaac Hobart Jr., across the bridge from the house built by his father, Isaac Sr.
Isaac Hobart Jr., who married Abigail Jones, and after her death Jane Jones, her sister, built his house across Hobart Stream from his father's residence. Isaac Jr.'s home burned while in possession of the family of Nathaniel Smith. A new dwelling built on the site continued to be occupied by the Smith family until the property was purchased by the United States government and the buildings razed in 1937.
