Lower Cathance Pool on the Dennys River

Fishermen line the banks of the Lower Cathance Pool in the late 1930's, and the scene as it appears today, with a map reproduced from "Salmon on the Dennys, 1786-1988", by Ed Bartlett and Ray Robinson.
Lower Cathance is a stretch of fast, riffly water made by a short set of rapids below the Community pool, just below the mouth of the Cathance Stream. In earlier times, notes Ray Robinson, the Cathance flowed behind the west bank of the Community Pool, creating an island, which has since been filled with rocks and gravel.
