Gardner-Hobart House, Dennysville, Maine
Photograph
The Gardner-Hobart House was built by Civil War veteran Fred Gardner on The Lane, in Dennysville, Maine around 1870. For much of the twentieth century this was family home of Rebecca Hobart, Town historian and author of "Dennysville, 1786 - 1986...and Edmunds, Too".
Rebecca Hobart wrote of this house in her history of Dennysville and Edmunds: "Lyman Gardner's brother, Frederick J., built his house on part of his father's lot between 1865 and 1870. The house was purchased by William O. ("Len") and his wife Minnie Thompson in 1917, and by Ralph and Edith (McRae) Hobart in 1931." After her parents died, it became the home of their daughter Rebecca.
