On April 13, 1908, Fred Gardner, a local storekeeper, recorded in his journal, "Went up to the Post Room and helped in organizing a Band, although I am fearful of the outcome." Among the musicians were John Sylvia, Edgar Sylvia, Edward Burns, Howard Philbrook, Fred L. Gardner, Richard Hobart, Irving Gifford, Ed Laflin, Clarence Allan and Bert Nesbit. There is no record of how long this band lasted," wrote Rebecca W. Hobart in "Dennysville 1786-1986 . . . and Edmunds, Too!"
