Hallowell's Island, Edmunds, Maine. Many years ago, the island was a camp site for Native Americans. After the area was settled, there were homes built on the island. Later when again uninhabited, blueberries were harvested commercially on the island. After 1969, Hallowell's Island was purchased by Suffolk University and became a part of their Marine Field Station. In the the early 2000's Hallowell's Island became part of the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge.
