Mahar's Point, Pembroke Maine

Mahar's Point on the tip of Leightons Neck, had been the location of a Native American encampment for nearly 9000 years when Edmund Mahar settled here at the time of the American Revolution. The Reversing Falls change direction twice daily as the waters of the Dennys River join tidal flow of Cobscook Bay. A family cemetery still memorializes those who make their living in these rich but dangerous waters.
