D.K. Hobart's drug store was located on the riverbank upstream of Gardner's store, appearing on the 1860 map of Washington County. Records show that he and his brother, William T. Hobart, purchased the land and building for $250 from Charles Eastman. Aaron K. Hobart's obituary in 1900 indicated that he worked with his brother Daniel, having been many years in trade together. In 1881 the store was listed under the name of George Kilby, Aaron K.'s son-in-law, who moved the business up the road to the foot of Meetinghouse Hill.
