The Willows, Dennysville, Maine
Postcard
Postcard view of the "The Willows", a section of road extending from below the meetinghouse on Water Street to the Lincoln House, in Dennysville, Maine.
Rebecca W. Hobart writes in "Dennysville 1786-1986 . . . and Edmunds, too!" (p. 14): "Worthy of mention in the consideration of town roads and streets is the fact that that there was at one time actually a sidewalk in Dennysville. At the 1911 town meeting it was voted that the sum of fifty dollars be raised for the purpose of building a sidewalk through the Willows (between the Lincoln House and the Lower Bridge). However, for some reason note recorded, in 1919 the citizens voted to discontinue that sidewalk." See also the photograph on p. 11 of the Lower Bridge from the road between The Willows and the Lincoln House.
