Charlie's Rips on the Dennys River
Photograph
Charlie's Rips on the Dennys River, and map, reproduced from "Salmon on the Dennys, 1786-1988", by Ed Bartlett and Ray Robinson. Named after Charlie Sylvia, the principal teacher at the Edmunds Consolidated School and resident of Harrison Road, he would cross the fields to this favorite fishing spot on the banks of the Dennys River.
This long set of rips is named after Charlie Sylvia, a long-time Salmon Club president and officer. He lived on the Edmunds side of the river and would walk down through the woods to fish these rips. Ray Robinson noted in 1988: "This pool is the most heavily fished on the River and many fish are caught here."
