Charles C. Hobart, eldest son of Benjamin and Emily, resided in a house built for him across the road from his boyhood home by Solomon Potter around 1850, where he lived until his death in 1903. He married Drucilla Foster, daughter of Benjamin and Joanna (West) Foster. Thier family included one son and two daughters. After Druscilla died in 1866, Charels C. continued to live in the home until his death in 1903. The house was the birthplace of the five sons and four daughters of Charles C. and Drucilla's son Sydney and his wife Ada (Morong.) Fred Gardner wrote in his diary, "Sidney H. Hobart's wife died last night. A very sad affair. They have nine children, youngest one week, oldest fifteen years." Sidney Hobart, with the help of a daughter Clara, raised the family, with the exception of the baby, Emily, who was brought up by her maternal grandparents, Capt. Daniel and Lydia (Garnett) Morong. The Hobart dwelling was later occupied by Max and Hazel Phinney, Roscoe and Evelyn (Bryant) Seeley, Gerald and Pauline (Dudley) Cox, and Dana and Joyce (Stevens) Cox. It was operated as a dairy farm by Dana Cox until the land was purchased by the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge around the year 2000.
