Cobscook Bay Sate Park was created in 1964 for public use when the land was transferred by the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge to administration by the Maine State Park and Recreational Division. 100 campsites, and day use areas picnics and tidal boat launch are available for a nominal fee.
The recreational section of the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, commonly called "the Edmunds Park" became "Cobscook State Park" under the administration of the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands. The area includes 100 campsites, 49 picnic sites, and a tidewater boat launching ramp, and has become a favorite vacation spot for summer visitors, a refreshing stopover for tourists, and a pleasant scenic location for group reunions and parties from the surrounding local area.
