A waterside location next to Dock Brook in Dennysville where the ancestral Wabanaki traditionally gather sweetgrass for basketmaking and other purposes. A collection of handmade sweetgrass baskets made by Passamaquoddy tribal members for local residents was on display at the Academy Vestry Museum in Dennysville for an exhibit entitled: "Ancestral Passamaquoddy on the Dennys River" during the summer of 2022.
Ancestral Passamaquoddy tribal members have been coming to the Dennys River for over 9000 years to fish, and gather other natural resources for food and medicine, including sweetgrass at his location beside Dock Brook. Finely made baskets are to this day one of the highly prized and valued items still made and sold by the tribe, many of which are in use in local homes, and some outstanding examples in museum and private collections all across the country.
