Bucket Factory and Pail Mill, Edmunds, Maine
Photograph
A bucket factory was located on the Edmunds side of the Dennys River, just below the Lincoln's mill dam in the mid-nineteenth century. Marked on the 1861 map of the Dennysville Village and operated by G. and C. Eastman, by 1881 it had been replaced by a machine shop. The mill worker's boarding house is visible above the roofline of the factory building, and the famous State Seal pines are located on the bank beside it. Stacks of lumber are piled to dry on the bank above. Photo courtesy of The Tides Institute, Eastport, Maine.
